Mid-Year Update on My Personal Goals

Alright, so we are just over half way through the year and I thought I would take this time to reevaluate my goals, and to share my “refreshed” goals for the remainder of the year.

1. I have decided not to do my half marathon this year, given my knee injury. Instead I will run two – 1o km races and two – 5km races.

2. Maintain my modified Paleo lifestyle.

3. Complete my group fitness instructor certification (I am on track to be finished by August).

4. Read three books not related to parenting and not related to my job (doesn’t seem like a lot but boy it is hard to focus on reading in the evening after a busy day at the office and home). Will share titles soon.

5. Integrate yoga practice, even not weekly — biweekly into my work out routine to open up my hip flexors and to help become a bit more grounded. Sometimes, I find the stress of balancing it all to be a challenge.

IT’S all about living a healthy lifestyle and staying fit. There are so many important lessons your children can learn from exposing them young to an active lifestyle.

Little did you know that a stroller can help make exercise possible. Help you set aside family time and make it a fun! (Don’t get me wrong, I KNOW first hand how difficult running with a stroller can be). But don’t worry friends over the next month I will share with you tips and tricks to make your stroller runs easier and more comfortable. I will share posts by fellow Fit Parents on their experiences with stroller running and to help connect you to a community of like-minded, active people.

Stroller Running Day is all about connecting so don’t be shy and share your stories with the annual event’s hashtag and virtual run: #StrollerRun15 (last year #StrollerRun14).

On May 31, people all over are invited to celebrate National Stroller Running Day.  There are so many ways to get involved:

  • Head over to RunStrollerRun and find a stroller friendly race in your area!  Sign up and enjoy with your little running buddies.
  • Set out on your own, push, pull, walk or run with your little buddies.
  • Organize a local run and get together with your local community of runners.  Encourage everyone to bring a pack of diapers to donate to your charity of choice.
  • I’ll be hosting an informal “fun” meet up in Ottawa (stay tuned).
