In the spirit of motivational Monday! I thought I would share ….
So one of the more popular races in my city is the Army Run. An important race that brings together “Canadians and the Canadian Armed Forces – Air Force, Army, and Navy – joining together in the spirit of camaraderie and community.”
Almost three years ago, I began training on a daily basis for this race. I joined a local running group and managed to begin an incredible transformation towards a lean, strong and physical running physique that would help me accomplish my goal of 21kms in under 2 hours.
Just a few weeks shy of the race, I found out I was pregnant with my little precious pea.
Our doctor encouraged me to continue to run, especially since I had been training, but every time I would go out for a run (I did a lot of my training runs at lunch time!) I became worried and think “if something ever happened…” So I stopped.
That 1/2 marathon has been on my mind since the point I decided not to run. It was and continues to be something that I really wanted to accomplish to prove that I had the mental and physical strength.
As my running friends have said, just start training and do it! I should also add, I may also be driven in a large part by the running community I have joined, as well as motivated by the author of the book I am reading for book club … (more to come on that soon!)
So my BIG announcement **drum roll please!
Army Run 2015, here I come!
